Form V & The Sealed Knot

Form V were taken back to the 1640s during a visit by members of the Sealed Knot Society who showed the children what it was like to be part of the New Model Army.

They were put through their paces with musket and pike drills and did some decent marching around the North Terrace with our own Ashfold Regiment Colours.

The children saw how a flintlock musket was loaded and fired and how a ‘flash in the pan’ caused a matchlock musket not to work. The children were also shown the tools that would have been used to work the land around Dorton nearly 400 years ago. It was great to see everything the children had been reading and hearing about in History lessons actually come to life in front of their eyes.
