Seniors (age 9-13)
In the Senior Department (Years 5, 6, 7 and 8) children begin to take greater ownership of their learning than in the junior years. The emphasis naturally becomes more academic but we know that it is the breadth of opportunities on offer at Ashfold that enables our children to develop their knowledge and skills and succeed to the best of their ability.
We prepare children for Common Entrance and Scholarship examinations and are extremely proud of our academic record. Each year around half of our Sixth Form children take a wide range of Scholarship examinations to some of the best schools in the country. Some children also sit the 11+ examinations to the Buckinghamshire grammar schools.
Lessons are designed to be both challenging and fun so that children are actively engaged in their learning. Our children develop knowledge, acquire skills and receive as broad and solid a foundation for future learning as possible. They leave us as confident, articulate, well-rounded young people ready to thrive at their next schools.
