Seniors (age 9-13)

Freya rdWelcome to the Senior Department at Ashfold, where Forms 3 - 6 (Years 5 - 8) are designed to nurture independent learning and academic excellence.

At this stage, our pupils take greater ownership of their learning, transitioning from the supportive environment of the Junior years to a more academically focused setting. Yet it is the breadth of opportunities available at Ashfold that truly enables our children to develop their knowledge and skills, achieving success to the best of their ability.

We diligently prepare our pupils for their chosen Senior School entrance and Scholarship examinations and take immense pride in our outstanding academic record. Each year, around half of our Form 6 pupils undertake a wide range of Scholarship examinations for some of the country’s most prestigious schools, while some also sit the 11+ examinations for entry into Buckinghamshire grammar schools.

Our lessons are designed to be both challenging and enjoyable, ensuring that children are actively engaged in their learning. Beyond the classroom, we place great emphasis on developing individual talents and building confidence through a variety of co-curricular activities. Regular assemblies, music and drama productions, and a diverse range of sporting activities all contribute to a well-rounded education.

Our Senior Department provides our pupils with the knowledge, skills, and solid foundation necessary for future learning. We are proud to see our students leave us as confident, articulate, and well-rounded young people, ready to thrive in their next academic endeavours.
