Pre-Prep II visit Waddesdon
Pre-Prep II joined the excellent education team at Waddesdon Manor to take part in a Garden Explorers’ Day linked to our topic, Growing Things and Minibeasts.
The children were invited to recreate the life cycle of ants, bees, butterflies and ladybirds by placing wooden figures in the correct order. They learnt about eggs, larva, pupas and insects and enjoyed listening to the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
They found out more about the life cycle of trees. There was a Giant Redwood which the children examined and measured before linking hands and embracing it. They then counted the rings and calculated the age of the trees.
The whole day was spent outside and included some wonderful bug hunts and the creation of a bug hotel.
