House System
The House system is an integral part of life at Ashfold, developing team spirit, friendly competition, and a strong sense of belonging. Every child is assigned to a House upon joining the school, with siblings always placed in the same House.
House | House Colour |
---|---|
Dragons | Green |
Gryphons | Blue |
Lions | Red |
Each House is led by a dedicated member of staff and a Head of House, appointed from Form 6 (Year 8). The Houses meet weekly for a House Assembly, where they celebrate achievements and successes.
Inter-House Competitions & Credits
Throughout the year, pupils take part in a wide range of inter-House competitions, covering:
- Poetry & Creative Writing
- Art
- Music
- Sport
Pupils can also earn credits for their House by:
- Representing the school in competitions and events
- Demonstrating good behaviour, manners, and teamwork
- Participating in special traditions, such as the Pancake Day Races
The House Challenge Cup
At the end of each term, the House with the most points is awarded the prestigious House Challenge Cup. The winning House enjoys a well-earned celebration:
- Prep School: A House Feast at the start of the following term
- Pre-Prep: A House Treat during the first House Assembly of term
Building Friendships & Teamwork
Belonging to a House encourages friendships across year groups, builds confidence, and promotes collaboration and school spirit. Pupils take great pride in representing their House, and their loyalty and enthusiasm remain with them throughout their time at Ashfold.
