Academic Overview

At Ashfold, we believe in developing a love of learning through a broad and engaging curriculum that encourages curiosity, ambition, resilience, and independence. Our academic approach is designed to nurture each child's potential, ensuring they develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge to thrive in their education and beyond.

Pre-Prep (Pre-Prep 1- 4)

In the Pre-Prep, our youngest pupils are immersed in a rich and stimulating learning environment where curiosity is encouraged from the very beginning. Through hands-on experiences, play-based learning, and structured teaching, children develop strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving. Small class sizes and dedicated staff ensure each child receives individual attention, fostering a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their time at Ashfold.

Alongside core subjects, the curriculum includes French, Music, Art, Sport, and Forest School, providing pupils with a well-rounded education that promotes kindness, respect, and courage as they take their first steps in the classroom.

Juniors (Forms 1-2)

As pupils move into the Junior years, we build upon their academic foundations, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning with greater independence and resilience. The curriculum becomes more structured, introducing specialist teaching in subjects such as Science, Humanities, Computing, Design Technology and Modern Foreign Languages, alongside English and Mathematics.

A strong emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, ensuring that pupils approach challenges with confidence. Lessons remain engaging and dynamic, incorporating collaborative projects, independent research, and cross-curricular links to spark ambition and deepen understanding.

Opportunities beyond the classroom, including trips, workshops, and outdoor learning, further enrich pupils’ experiences, encouraging them to be inquisitive, adaptable, and open to new ideas.
