Sports Report - Week 2
What a busy start to the sporting term with some great performances across three 3 different sports!
The U13 and U11 boys and girls took part in the Winchester House pre-season tournaments for hockey (boys) and netball (girls). The boys performed admirably, chalking up some wins and draws along the way. The girls’ squads also did really well with lots of close matches and plenty of opportunities to try out new combinations.
The Senior A and B netballers had their first matches of the season against Lord Williams’s with both teams coming out on top and winning convincingly. While the As made great drives into space, kept the pressure on in defence and shot with exceptional accuracy, the Bs made a very good comeback in the second half.
The Middle girls played in a friendly netball triangular against The Manor Prep and Cranford House at The Manor Prep. This was the first time they had played Cranford House and they put in strong performances, despite the pouring rain!
The Senior boys’ football squads started their season with a bang with matches against Bruern Abbey. Meanwhile, the Colts hockey teams opened the term with matches against some strong teams from Magdalen College School.
Despite the rain and freezing temperatures this week, everyone got stuck into training and matches and there were lots of smiles, regardless of results. Enjoyment is the name of the game and long may it continue!
