Science
Science at Ashfold is built on discovery, where curiosity is nurtured and young minds are encouraged to question the world around them. From the earliest years, our pupils explore topics that ignite their natural wonder — from life cycles and ecosystems to forces, materials and beyond.
Practical, hands-on learning lies at the heart of our approach, with experiments and investigations helping children develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts. We want pupils to think and work like real scientists — making predictions, collecting data, analysing results and drawing conclusions.
Science extends far beyond the classroom. Our beautiful grounds, dedicated outdoor learning spaces, and trips to places such as the Science Oxford Centre and the Natural History Museum inspire pupils to see science in action, connecting their learning to the world around them. These opportunities help develop the skills, confidence and curiosity they need to ask big questions and seek their own answers.
Above all, we want every pupil to leave Ashfold with a lifelong curiosity about the world — confident to think critically, reason scientifically and embrace the excitement of discovery.
