A Celebration of Community Spirit

Our Harvest Festival services on Friday, led by Oli Parker, were a wonderful celebration of gratitude, generosity and community spirit.
Pupils, staff and families came together to give thanks for the abundance we enjoy while reflecting on the importance of supporting those who may be facing difficult circumstances. The services provided an opportunity for the school community to pause, reflect and celebrate the values of kindness and compassion that lie at the heart of Ashfold.
The impact of the community's generosity was immediately apparent on entering the church. Harvest donations filled the building, with contributions lining the ends of every pew and occupying every available corner. The colourful display was a powerful visual reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose.
Families donated an impressive range of items, including store cupboard essentials, toiletries and pet food, all of which will help to meet practical needs within the local area. The collection reflects the willingness of Ashfold families to support others and to make a positive difference beyond the school gates.
Following the services, all donations were delivered to Thame Foodbank, where they will help support local families and individuals experiencing hardship. As demand for foodbank services continues to rise across many communities, these contributions will play an important role in providing essential support to those who need it most.
Harvest Festival is an important moment in the school year, encouraging pupils to think not only about gratitude for what they have, but also about how they can help others. Through their donations and participation in the services, our pupils demonstrated a genuine understanding of the importance of empathy, generosity and service.
