Sports Round-up - Week 3
It's been a busy sporting week with 3 tournaments as well as rugby and hockey fixtures.
U9 Girls Hockey Festival
Ashfold hosted its first U9 Hockey Festival involving 14 teams from 7 different schools. It was a great opportunity for everyone to get some match practice in preparation for the coming season. Each team played at least 5 matches and gained valuable experience.
Our thanks to Swanbourne, Beachborough, The Grove, Chandlings, Manor Prep and Akeley Wood for taking part.
St Hugh’s U13 Rugby Tournament
Our U13A squad travelled to St Hugh’s to play in their annual ‘Super 12’ Tournament. Placed in a pool with Winchester House, Beachborough and the hosts themselves, we won 2 and narrowly lost one match, placing us in a play-off for 3rd place against Pinewood. Despite going a try down, we quickly rallied and played some scintillating rugby to eventually win 15-5 and take the 3rd place spot. Rugby coach, Matty Mountford, was impressed with the squad’s commitment and attitude throughout the day and the potential for this team to have a very successful season.
Swanbourne U10 Rugby Tournament
The U10As travelled to the Swanbourne Tournament filled with growing confidence after their display in the first week of fixtures. They continued to show outstanding development as a team and recorded 3 wins during the afternoon, including victories against Swanbourne and St Hugh’s. It was a great learning curve for boys who can build on this as the season progresses.
