Marlborough Debating Day
Our annual visit to the Marlborough College Prep Schools' Debating Day was both stimulating and enjoyable.
After some very nice pastries, the Ashfold team took part in a workshop on the art of debating. All the children made valuable contributions on topics such as school uniform and pocket money. After lunch, where they were joined by parents, the children were given the debate motion – This House believes that books have become redundant in schools. With just over 15 minutes to prepare their arguments, they quickly set to work.
The Marlborough staff and the watching audience commended our team for the confidence they showed when speaking and for the points they made about the future of books in schools. All in all, a hugely valuable and fun Sunday!
