Form VI Thinking, Learning & Discovery Day
After the pressures of mocks, it was good for Form VI to spend a day focussing on something very different from Common Entrance! Working in small groups, the Sixth Formers were given the task of planning and preparing a presentation on the theme of surviving on a remote island.
They were put in the mood by watching a clip from the film Cast Away and an excerpt from a documentary on Shackleton’s ill-fated Endurance Expedition. They were then given sessions - delivered by subject specialists – to help them live in a hostile environment. The groups then worked hard, making films, maps, models and scripts.
A panel of teachers enjoyed watching the results of many hours’ hard work and was genuinely delighted with the positive and creative way each group had tackled the task.
