Robotics Vex IQ Challenge
Ashfold’s Robotics teams won three awards at the Vex IQ Challenge regional and are through to the national finals.
The Vex competition challenges teams to design, build and drive a robot over a season to score points in a fiendish game.
The format of the competition involves collaborating with teams from other schools, rather than competing against them. The scores of joint team alliances determine who competes in the finals, which are also collaborative.
At the regional competition at Cranleigh School, our two teams qualified in 1st and 4th place giving us a team in both the top and the second highest ranked alliance for the finals. Our alliance with Lambrook School ended with the highest score and our alliance with Edgeborough School came second.
In addition to winning the teamwork challenge, we also came away with the driver skills award and the build award, which recognises the skill involved in the design and construction.
Our teamwork winners will join winners of other regional competitions at the National Vex finals in Telford on 3 and 4 March.
