Scholars' Club
The first Scholars' Club meeting of the Spring Term focused on debating skills and saw members both devising and presenting arguments on two quite challenging topics.
The lengthiest debate was on reducing the age limit of voting in General Elections to fourteen. Scholars made some interesting statements and really got into rebuttals which needed a lot of quick thinking.
Another motion - that there should be a national minimum income - was very difficult to adjudicate as both sides made convincing arguments.
All this practice will help our Debating Team at the Haileybury competition later this month.
