WWI Masterclass
A group of forty keen children from Forms IV - VI were treated to some of the sights, sounds and smells of the First World War, courtesy of the Headmistress of Wychwood School, Mrs Andrea Johnson.
Mrs Johnson used a mixture of chemical reactions, poetry and historical facts to give the children some idea of what soldiers in the trenches would have seen (she made flares); heard (she made some explosions); and smelt (there was some very unpleasant trench mud to inhale!).
It was a captivating hour for both the children and staff who attended and we are very grateful to Mrs Johnson for spending her afternoon at Ashfold.
