Pre-Prep 2 (age 4-5)
Our Pre-Prep 2 (Reception) curriculum is designed to inspire young learners in an environment where play-based learning meets structured teaching. In our two dedicated classes, the classrooms open onto an enclosed outdoor area and playground, allowing for a seamless blend of indoor exploration and outdoor adventure. Each room is equipped with dedicated areas for both learning and discovery.
We combine the benefits of a play-based approach with more formal learning, ensuring that every child develops essential skills while enjoying the process of exploration. Specialist teaching in Music enriches the curriculum, and regular trips to local places of interest—as well as visits from engaging speakers—further enhance the learning experience, bringing real-world connections into the classroom.
Our children also make full use of the School’s beautiful grounds for outdoor learning and physical exercise. They benefit from access to extensive facilities including the Art & Design Centre, the Saloon, the Library, the Sports Hall, and the Performance Studio.
Building on the foundations laid in Pre-Prep 1, our Pre-Prep 2 curriculum deepens children’s learning. It continues to align with the EYFS framework by focusing on:
- Curiosity and Exploration: Inspiring inquisitiveness and a love of discovery through hands-on activities.
- Enhanced Literacy and Numeracy: Advancing language and mathematical concepts in a supportive, engaging environment.
- Physical and Motor Skills Development: Refining fine and gross motor skills through diverse, practical projects.
- Understanding the World: Developing a respect for the environment through nature-based learning and real-life experiences in our Forest School.
- Collaborative Social Learning: Encouraging teamwork and communication through interactive group activities that build social confidence.
''In the EYFS, children thoroughly enjoy their learning and achieve extremely well''
