Pre-Prep II join the Christmas Carnival at Waddesdon

Pre-Prep II visited Waddesdon Manor to see their contribution to the local schools’ Christmas project in situ and to admire the beautifully decorated Christmas trees in the Manor.

It was a glorious day as the children headed first for the adventure playground and then, full of smiles and laughter, for the Manor where they were each given a Christmas calendar with windows. The challenge was to find a number on or near a Christmas tree and then open the corresponding window. The children were dazzled by the sheer size and splendour of the Christmas trees in the Manor, decorated from top to bottom with baubles, lights and decorations, but their eager eyes were also quick to spot the numbers! The Manor was full of visitors but the children moved graciously between them and it was lovely to hear admiring comments about their manners and behaviour.

Outside, the children walked down Miss Alice’s Drive, spotting baubles hanging from trees and then the display they were longing to see - the pictures made by 20 local schools! Each picture had been placed in a light box and showed a fairy tale character.

Everyone was thrilled to see Ashfold’s picture which featured the seven dwarfs. Happiness and joy prevailed despite the fact that the beautiful seven dwarfs landscape scene was presented within a light box in a portrait position!! Next to the pictures, a row of brightly coloured buckets, labelled with each school’s name and fairy tale character, stood with a sign saying, ‘Vote for your favourite school!’ Visitors were invited to vote with a 1 p or 2p coin. Luckily, Miss Scrivener found her purse full of pennies and kindly gave every child a few, in order to vote! We were delighted to find we already had lots of pennies!  The winning school will have the most coins and will receive them all as the prize.

The Christmas Carnival display is open at Waddesdon Manor until 2 January 2019.
