U13 Boys win Rugby 7s Tournament
Ashfold U13 Rugby squad won the Pinewood 7’s tournament for the first time yesterday. In perfect rugby playing conditions, the team played some scintillating attacking rugby combined with courageous defence.
In their pool matches they racked up big wins against Prior Park, Wycliffe, The Downs Malvern and Cheltenham whilst grinding out a tough victory against Beaudesert to book their place in the final.
As the light was fading, Ashfold dazzled with their excellent style of 7’s rugby and they outplayed a very good Dean Close side to win 38-0 and take home the trophy.
Their tenacity in defence and vision in attack saw them score well over 200 points in 6 games. The victory is testament to their hard work and belief that working as a team can reap its rewards.
Many thanks to our rugby coach, Mr Mountford for imparting his excellent tactical knowledge to the boys and to the whole squad for being perfect ambassadors for the School.
