Sports Report - Week 14
It has been another great half term of sport with success in rugby, hockey, cross country and gymnastics.
Our boys’ rugby teams all developed and learnt new skills which will hold them in good stead for the future. The U13A rugby team lost just two matches all season. They adapted quickly during the Pinewood 7s tournament where several opposition schools’ coaches commented on their impressive style of 7s rugby. The U12s had a very promising term - we tried to encourage a fast flowing, exciting style of rugby, which they all took on board. At the St Edward’s tournament, several of the Wasps RFC coaches commented that our boys played some of the best rugby in the group. The U10 and U11 sides certainly had steep learning curves this season but their effort and commitment to training showed. They are a resilient bunch of boys who will succeed in the future. At a junior level, our three U9 teams all developed their tackling skills and learnt to cope with the increasing physicality of the game whilst the U8 boys enjoyed their tag rugby matches.
The Senior girls’ hockey sides all developed well as the season progressed, picking up new tricks and skills along the way which resulted in some comprehensive wins in the last few weeks of the term. The Middle girls also learnt so much this season and really were unlucky not to progress further in their Regional IAPS tournament. The U9s showed they are a force to be reckoned with after an unbeaten season that included wins over Chesham Prep and Winchester House. The U8s all understood what it takes to be a hockey player – commitment, dedication, team-work and a mouth guard!
We enjoyed success at the Beachborough Run Cross Country event where we had top 10 finishes in the U11 boys’ and girls’ races and a top 15 finish in the U13 boys’ race.
We also entered an U10 and U11 squad in the National IAPS Gymnastics Competition where our U11 squad finished in 4th place overall in the country - an outstanding achievement!
